From the time I was a little girl I loved to bake! I would practice my baking and imitate my mom with my very own easy bake oven. My mother was always there by my side giving me direction and encouraging me to be creative. As the years past and I became a young teenager I was always in the kitchen making cookies, cakes, etc. after school and for my family and friends - it was my favorite hobby! It must have been an inherited trait because my mom was always cooking and baking as well!

 

After having 4 wonderful boys (who are now grown and with children of their own), I've continued to bake for many many special occasions. Imagine all of the birthday parties, school functions, weddings, baby/wedding showers you bake for over the years with 4 children? This was great practice for me and something I really enjoyed doing, but I wanted more. I decided to enroll myself in a local cake decorating class along, with my 13 year old granddaughter. We had so much fun learning together, bonding! It was during this time I was really able to perfect my decorating techniques. Soon thereafter, I decided once again to step it up a notch, with the encouragement of family and friends telling me "you should go into business for yourself" it really motivated me to do exactly that. So today I am the owner and baker extraordinaire of my own cake business: Frostings by Karen.

 

I take baking pretty seriously around here. This means that every order is designed and created by an actual person (me!) who truly loves cake.
